Rookwood Scenic Vellum Plaque dated 1919, decorated by renowned Rookwood artist Fred Rothenbusch, considered a premier artist at Rookwood due to his high degree of artistry in tonal quality and glaze second to none. He has produced here a splendid pastoral landscape of a Ohio River Valley meadow on a summer evening. There are wonderfully articulated trees along a placid river with fields and hills visible in the background. Rothenbusch was one of Rookwood’s finest scenic artists and the plaque is signed with the artist’s initials in the lower left-hand corner. The plaque measures 8” w x 5” h and is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The back carries the Rookwood flame logo and the marking XIX for the year 1919. The plaque retains it’s original frame, also in excellent condition and measures 12 ½” wide and 9 ½” high overall.
